CYCLONES EARN ROAD POINT, FALL TO INDY IN OT

Fishers, Ind, - The Cincinnati Cyclones earned a road point after falling to the Indy Fuel, 4-3, in overtime on Saturday night. Highlighted by a two-goal performance from forward Mathieu Gosselin and a power play goal for Chas Sharpe, the Cyclones were defeated in the first meeting between the two teams at Fishers Event Center.

  • Gosselin scored the game’s first goal with his sixth goal of the season. While Cincinnati didn’t score on the initial try, a feed from Remy Parker and Chris Dodero gave Cincinnati the early lead just minutes into the game.
  • Cincinnati controlled the period, but a streaking Bryan Lemos cruised down the slot and fired a shot low blocker past Pavel Cajan. His first of the night tied the score at 1-1.
  • The Cyclones would close out the period with a second goal to take the lead into the intermission. Sharpe scored yet again on the power play to give the Cyclones a 2-1 lead. Braeden Kressler and Ty Voit recorded assists on Sharpe’s 15th goal of the season.
  • Jordan Martin would tie the game in the second period with his third goal of the season. His goal made it 2-2 at the 5:09 mark of the middle frame.
  • Gosselin would give Cincinnati yet another lead past the halfway mark of the second period. At the 10:58 mark of the second, Sharpe and Sikic fed Gosselin who extended his stick to give Cincinnati their third lead of the game.
  • Lemos would strike again. His second of the game evened up the score at 3-3 heading into the third. Neither team would score despite a fast paced third period. Cincinnati would have a four minute power play, but were unable to strike.
  • The game would require overtime. With the game heading to the extra period, the Cyclones now have points in three straight games. Cam Hausinger scored the overtime game winner on the power play to give Indy their second overtime winner against Cincinnati this season.

The Cyclones have a day off before returning to Heritage Bank Center for a matinee matchup against the Toledo Walleye. Kids between the ages of 2-12 eat free on Monday afternoon.
