Cincinnati, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones today announced the signing of forward Justin Portillo. The 33-year-old right winger joins the Cyclones after spending most of the 2024-25 season with the Athens Rock Lobsters of the FPHL.
Portillo, known for his toughness, will join his second ECHL club after a brief loan to the Kansas City Mavericks in 2021-22. In his first stint in the league, Portillo appeared in 11 games and recorded 15 penalty minutes as a member of the Mavericks. So far this season, Portillo has amassed five assists and 136 penalty minutes as a member of the Rock Lobsters.
Since the start of his career, Portillo has bounced around the FPHL and SPHL. His most productive season was in 2019-20 as a member of the Port Huron Growlers of the FPHL, where he recorded 22 goals, 22 assists in 46 games. Since then, the Toledo native has played for six different organizations between both leagues.
