‘CLONES FALL TO K-WINGS IN OVERTIME ON FRIDAY NIGHT
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Kalamazoo Wings, 3-2, in overtime on Friday night at Heritage Bank Center. Highlighted by an overtime goal from defenseman Jayden Lee, the ‘Clones fell to the K-Wings for the first time this season.
- Cincinnati would net the first two goals of the game in the first period. Starting the offense was a goal seconds after the end of a power play from Spencer Cox.
- With his goal, Cox scored his first professional goal with his blast from the blue line. In his Cyclones and season debut, the Ohio native would score his maiden goal in his first appearance as a member of the organization.
- Ben King would notch Cincinnati’s second goal of the game, netting his eighth goal of the season off assists from Lincoln Griffin and Jake Johnson. Cincinnati would take a 2-0 lead into the second period.
- Kalamazoo would get one back in the middle frame. Quinn Preston scored his eighth of the season to make it a one-goal game heading into the third period.
- Preston would find the back of the net again. While on the power play, a feed from Hunter Strand found Preston in the slot for his second goal of the game and his ninth of the campaign. With his goal, Kalamazoo would force overtime against the Cyclones for the second time this season.
- Jayden Lee would net the game-winning goal for the K-Wings just 1:09 into the extra period. His goal would hand the Cyclones their second overtime loss of the season. Cincinnati is now 5-2 in overtime this season.
- Tommy Scarfone would stop 22/25 against Kalamazoo in the overtime loss. Ty Young would stop 33/35 to register his first win of the season with Kalamazoo.
Cincinnati returns to Fishers Event Center for another road contest against the Indy Fuel tomorrow night. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and can be streamed on FloHockey and the Cyclones Radio Network.
