‘CLONES FALL TO WALLEYE ON FRIDAY NIGHT
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Toledo Walleye, 4-0, on Friday night at Heritage Bank Center. Four goals in the first two periods highlighted the loss for Cincinnati, snapping a five-game point streak for the Cyclones.
- Despite killing the first penalty kill of the game, Colby Ambrosio scored on a redirected shot to make it 1-0 Toledo. His seventh of the season would serve as the eventual game-winning goal for the Walleye.
- Denis Smirnov would score to make it 2-0. HIs ninth of the season was assisted by Tanner Dickinson and Riley McCourt. The power play goal occurred on a 5-on-3 man advantage during the first six minutes of the first period.
- Toledo would score two more in the second period to close out the offense. Brandon Hawkins scored his 16th of the season to make it 3-0, before Jed Pietila scored his first of the campaign to round out the scoring in the game.
- Carter Gylander stopped 18/18 to record his first shutout of the season. Tommy Scarfone would stop 19/23 before Kyle McClellan came on in relief after the second period and stopped 6/6 in the third.
Cincinnati returns to Heritage Bank Center for an afternoon rematch against the Walleye on Saturday. Puck drop between the division rivals is scheduled for 4:05 p.m. ET and can be streamed on FloHockey and the Cyclones Radio Network.
