CYCLONES BLANKED BY THE BISON 5-0

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The Cincinnati Cyclones fell to the Bloomington Bison, 5-0, on Saturday night at Grossinger Motors Arena. A two-goal performance from Lou-Félix Denis highlighted the loss for the Cyclones against their divisional opponent.

  • Bloomington would score three in the opening period to control the pace of the game. Jesper Solomon-Frisell would net his second goal of the season on a breakaway to open the scoring for the Bison.
     
  • Following a double minor penalty assessed to Cincinnati, the Cyclones would concede two power play goals to Bloomington with 2:30 to go in the opening period. Lou-Félix Denis would score his fifth and sixth goals of the campaign with a pair of power play goals to make it 3-0 heading into the second period.
     
  • In the second, Nikita Sedov scored his fourth goal of the year to bolster the Bloomington lead. With assists from Shane Ott and Chongmin Lee, the Bison would capture a 4-0 lead with 11:45 to go in the second period.
     
  • The final goal of the game would belong to Parker Gavlas at the 13:48 mark of the second period. His sixth goal of the season gave Bloomington a 5-0 lead heading into the third and final period. Despite outshooting Bloomington 12-9 in the third, Cincinnati would be denied by Dryden McKay en route to a shutout loss.
     
  • McKay would stop 34 shots in the shutout victory, recording his first of the season. Kyle McClellan would record the loss, making 16/21 saves in the loss over their division opponent.

Cincinnati returns to Heritage Bank Center this upcoming weekend for a pair of games against the Rapid City Rush. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:35 p.m. ET on Friday, Jan. 16. The Cyclones host Rapid City on the team’s Grateful Dead Night, where Cincinnati will don specialty jerseys that will be auctioned off postgame.
