CYCLONES COMPLETE TRADE FOR SAHIL PANWAR, SIGN FORWARD TO STANDARD PLAYER CONTRACT
CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Cincinnati Cyclones, proud ECHL affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs, today announced that the team has acquired the rights to forward Sahil Panwar in a trade with the Indy Fuel. Cincinnati acquired Panwar in exchange for the rights to defenseman Aaron Bohlinger. In addition to the trade, Panwar has signed a Standard Player Contract with the Cyclones ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
Panwar, 24, recorded 14 goals and seven assists (21 points) in 45 games played last season as a member of the Fuel. The Mississauga, Ontario native has three seasons of experience at the ECHL level with AHL games in the mix. In 124 games played, Panwar has 37 goals and 41 assists (78 points). He was a former Cyclone, appearing in 64 games during the 2023-24 campaign, logging 22 goals and 32 assists (54 points).
“Sahil had a lot of success in Cincinnati as a 21-year-old rookie. Putting up 54 points in your first professional season is impressive, but what stood out just as much was how mature his habits and professionalism already were,” said Cyclones Head Coach Riley Weselowski. “He was very well regarded by his teammates and the staff, and our fans got to see the speed and offensive instincts that make him such a dangerous player. His skating is his biggest weapon because he thrives alongside offensive players in a high-tempo, north-south game, and we expect him to be one of the pace setters for our group.”
“He gives us a lot of speed through the middle of the ice and has the ability to push defenders back and create offense off the rush. Since leaving Cincinnati, he has gained valuable AHL experience and continued developing his 200-foot game,” he added. “When we had the opportunity to acquire Sahil’s rights, it was a move we wanted to make. He has already proven he can produce in Cincinnati, and is returning as a more complete player. He knows the city, he knows how passionate our fans are, and he is extremely excited to play in front of them again.”
In addition to his time between Cincinnati, Bloomington, and Indy, Panwar also has appearances with the Hartford Wolf Pack and Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Panwar has 47 games of AHL experience, including three goals and four assists over the span of his AHL tenure. Prior to his professional career, he spent five seasons in the OHL with the London Knights, Flint Firebirds, Peterborough Petes, and the Hamilton Bulldogs. Over the course of his career, he recorded 54 goals and 70 assists (124 points) in 199 games played (2018-23).
