PANWAR’S BUZZER-BEATER LIFTS CYCLONES OVER NAILERS IN OVERTIME

WHEELING, W.V. (Nov. 1, 2026) - The Cincinnati Cyclones defeat the Wheeling Nailers, 2-1, in an overtime victory at the WesBanco Arena on Sunday afternoon. Forward Sahil Panwar scored with 1.2 remaining in overtime to lift the Cyclones over their Central Division rival.

  • It all started just 2:09 into regulation for the Cyclones. A strong drive from Adam Kydd led to Nathan Burke’s centering feed that was finished by Ross Mitton (1). His first of the season made it 1-0 for the Cyclones and gave Cincinnati the lead heading into the middle frame.

  • A scoreless second period saw a busy period for goaltender Timofei Obvintsev. His 12 saves in the second period were the most in a single period this week for the young Russian goaltender. Wheeling goaltender Philip Svedebäck was also strong, stopping 20/21 through two.

  • The Nailers would get back in the game off a finish from defenseman Robby Drazner (2). His second goal of the weekend against the Cyclones tied the game up at 1-1 and helped capture a point for Wheeling. Despite a healthy push from the Cyclones, the game would require overtime.

  • In the extra frame, the Cyclones controlled for the majority of the overtime period. Cincinnati outshot the Nailers 9-1 in OT but couldn’t solve Svedebäck until the very end of the game. A smart faceoff from Sahil Panwar (4) saw the forward pass the puck to himself. In an effort to center the puck, the pass redirected off a skate and slipped into the net with 1.2 left in regulation.

  • With his goal, Panwar extends his point streak to six games (4g, 8a) and gives Cincinnati their first OT win of the season. In addition, the Cyclones are now 4-0-0-1 when scoring the first goal of the game. They are also 2-1 when the game goes past regulation between overtime/shootouts.

The Cyclones will have a day off before heading to Fishers Event Center for a morning matchup against the Indy Fuel on Tuesday morning. Puck drop is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. ET and can be streamed on FloHockey and the Cyclones Radio Network.
